Forensic Examination of Post-Fire Damaged Electrical Conductors by Using X-Ray Radiographs

Structural fires globally have a catastrophic impact on loss of life, property damage, and socioeconomic factors. Forensic scientists, engineers, and/or fire investigators — often working together as investigation practitioners are commonly tasked with determining both the area origin its cause. During course investigation, practitioner may implement an determination methodology termed “arc mapping” or survey.” The correct application arc survey method is dependent practitioner’s ability to distinguish characterize features observed post-fire damage electrical wiring equipment. Experiments were conducted generate dataset damaged conductor artifacts. Generated artifacts visually examined, compared, characterized by X-ray examination. research results produced validated, novel, non-destructive for utilizing imagery reliably forensic investigations.
